Ellie has been working in the forests of the UK for the past seven years, producing work which explores the complex interrelationship between the landscape and the individual.

Come With Me draws on the spontaneous aspect of human nature; winding a path through the forest, Davies lays out powder, wool, paint, or paper to imitate the curve of the land, sweep of the eye, path of an animal.

By introducing artificial materials to the natural forest landscape, Davies wants to emphasise the constructed nature of the landscape itself, with a particular reference to the long tradition of landscape painting and its role in the creation of myth-making. The colour, shape, and material of each unique pathway mirror the surrounding landscape and delicately trace a temporary trajectory through the natural space, allowing Davies to locate herself within the landscape and develop a richer personal interaction with the woodland.

These small interactions transform the natural forest into an object and photographic image that allows us to question the stability of „nature“ as a concept.

Ellie arbeitet seit sieben Jahren in den Wäldern Großbritanniens und schafft Werke, die die komplexe Wechselbeziehung zwischen Landschaft und Individuum erforschen.

Come With Me greift den spontanen Aspekt der menschlichen Natur auf; während sie einen Pfad durch den Wald bahnt, legt Davies Puder, Wolle, Farbe oder Papier aus, um die Kurven des Geländes, den Blickwinkel des Auges oder den Weg eines Tieres nachzuahmen.

Durch die Einbringung künstlicher Materialien in die natürliche Waldlandschaft möchte Davies die konstruierte Natur der Landschaft selbst betonen, wobei sie insbesondere auf die lange Tradition der Landschaftsmalerei und deren Rolle bei der Schaffung von Mythen Bezug nimmt. Farbe, Form und Material jedes einzigartigen Pfades spiegeln die umgebende Landschaft wider und zeichnen zart eine vorübergehende Spur durch den natürlichen Raum, wodurch Davies sich selbst in der Landschaft verorten und eine reichhaltigere persönliche Interaktion mit dem Wald entwickeln kann.

Diese kleinen Interaktionen verwandeln den natürlichen Wald in ein Objekt und ein fotografisches Bild, das es uns ermöglicht, die Stabilität des Konzepts „Natur“ zu hinterfragen.
