„Der Pinienzapfen ist seit Jahrhunderten ein Symbol für die Keramik von Caltagirone und Sizilien. Er verkörpert das Gefühl von Stärke, Wohlstand, Unsterblichkeit, Fruchtbarkeit und ist ein Glückssymbol. Der Pinienzapfen hat sowohl die Häuser der Bauern als auch die der Adligen bereichert und geschmückt, er stand an den Toren oder Balkonen der großen Paläste und Villen der Aristokratie der Insel und ist auch heute noch ein wunderbares Dekorationsobjekt.
